Once upon a time (about 16 years ago) I began my own journey into the world of……not becoming pregnant upon command. Which also happened to coincide with obtaining my very fist computer and discovering the amazing Internet. And that is how I began my very first infertility community.
When you’re trying to conceive,  the thirst for answers is insatiable. Combine this with being a complete cyber geek and junkie for information and you end up with one of the earliest online infertility communities to blossom. SharedJourney.com was born in 1997. My collection of information could and DID fill up a website. Add to the mix the large numbers of people I had met through the Internet who were also fertility challenged and a real community came alive. Message boards, experts giving advice, people sharing thoughts, information and the hugely needed shoulder to cry on. Perfect.
The community is still thriving, however along came a son for us. It was time for me to take a few steps back and enjoy what I worked so passionately for. A baby.
Thing is…..infertility never really leaves you. This sounds awful, but it’s really a good thing. It’s shaped me into a more compassionate and less judgemental person. I don’t think I would be the mother I am today if I had not gone through infertility. I don’t think I’d have an appreciation for things the way I do now.
You may find this hard to believe, but I missed the connections I developed during my Shared Journey days. I missed being part of a community. And I missed feeling as though maybe…….just MAYBE I helped one person with information or support.
So here it is. TheFertilityblogs.com
I invite you to be a part of our community
All the Best,
Nancy
