So, I changed insurance’s with my new job…It wasn’t a huge adjustment becuase it was back to the clinic I had for 25 years before going on my husbands 4 years ago. My IUI was a big bust. I’m very down about it. We have an appointment on Wednesday with our doctor to see what we will do next.

Question for anyone….Will my ob/gyn suffice for a fertility checkup or should I make an appointment with another kind of doctor?

    • You can start with your ob/gyn for your basic blood tests. If you think will end up at a fertility specialist anyways it might be worth having them do all the tests.

    • I would make an appointment with a reproductive endocronologist for a consult. Sometimes talking about your cycle & your medical history helps and they can direct u better than an OB unless the Ob is a fertility specialist too. You can talk to your OB they can maybe do some blood testing but if you really want more answers see a specialist. …[Read more]

      • Thanks Fran. I will do some research in my area. I don’t want to 6 months to pass and still be no further along than I currently am

    • I would definately go to a fertitility specialist. Turns out if my dr would have been honest with me and told me my husbands numbers were really low…we would have never gone through with the IUI’s. RE’a know what they are doing. RE told us that IUI’s work only 15% of the time. Its ultimately your decision but go with your gut.

    Hi Everyone

I am new here and have been ttc since 2/2011. My question is:

At what point did you start looking into why you aren’t getting pregnant. I’ve read it can take up to a year, but it’s been almost […]

    • Hi Maddy!
it took me awhile to facd the fact that I wasn’t getting pregnant on my own. If your gut is telling you something is not right, I wouldn’t wait. A doctor can at least get started with some basic tests and it might take some stress of worrying off your shoulders.

      • Thanks for your response Meghan. I am thinking it’s time to get active here and stop sitting here waiting.

Yesterday marked our 4th wedding anniversary and it was a beautiful day! Granted we had to work all day and I also coach high school volleyball and we had a game last night so it wasn’t all too romantic, but he was there watching and cheering us on!

  • I have welcomed and watched for some time the debate within the Catholic Church about the appropriateness of Catholics “saving†frozen embryos, which is a discussion that has seen a recent resurgence.
